Fresh faces abound in the outfield grass for Washington this year, with three outfielders from last season joined by four newcomers. Amirah Milloy, Kaija Gibson, and Nawai Kaupe will bring experience and leadership to the outfield. Freshmen Madison Huskey, Sami Reynolds, Livy Schiele, and Francesca Torraca join the Huskies with impressive pedigrees, rounding out the group with some fresh legs. Gibson and Kaupe will also see action in the infield this year as two of Washington's many versatile options.

KAIJA GIBSON

2018 Stats: .462 slg%, 13 runs, 2 walks, 3 stolen bases

Gibson was a vital part of the Washington offense in 2018 in her primary role as a pinch-runner and defensive weapon, scoring 13 runs in her 48 games. Gibson had two triples in just over a week at one point in the year as she took advantage of her opportunities at the plate. Defensively, Gibson served mostly as an outfielder, making zero errors. She will see time in the outfield and infield this year, bringing athleticism to multiple positions.

MADISON HUSKEY

Huskey led CIF in home runs last year, earning Player of the Year honors for California while playing at Gahr High School. She hit .436 in her high school career, highlighted by a .549 mark as a junior that included 50 hits and 53 RBI in just 26 games. In her club career, the Cerritos, Calif. native won multiple PGF tournaments, taking home the PGF Shootout title in 2016 after winning all of PGF in 2014.

NAWAI KAUPE

2018 Stats: .246/.329/.492, 10 runs, 7 XBHs, 11 RBI

Kaupe showed her prodigious power as a freshman, slugging .492 as a part-time player off the bench. The Hawaiian hit four home runs in 65 at-bats, including two home runs on one day at the Mary Nutter Classic. That included one of her four multi-RBI games. She ended Pac-12 play with a bang, hitting a two-run home run against Oregon State that would end up being the deciding factor in the regular-season ending contest. Kaupe worked mostly at shortstop defensively, showing off her strong arm routinely, and will see time all around the field in 2019.

AMIRAH MILLOY

2018 Stats: .315/.376/.489, 10 doubles, 1 error

Milloy rounded into an important part of the starting lineup as a junior, hitting .315/.376/.489 in her 48 games of action. Entering the year with just one extra-base hit, Milloy found her power stroke, launching ten doubles and two home runs. That included two games with multiple doubles and a three-game stretch with three doubles, a home run, and seven RBI. She had seven games with multiple RBI and ended the year with 20, as well as 20 runs scored. In the field, Milloy made only one error. On the basepaths, she went a perfect 4-for-4 in steals.

SAMI REYNOLDS

With a state title to her name, Reynolds comes to Washington looking for more. She was a two-time All-Area First Team selection while at Snohomish High School. In each of her last three years of high school, Reynolds hit over .450, scoring a combined 108 runs over 71 games those years.

LIVY SCHIELE

Schiele missed 2018 with injury while a freshman at Auburn and joins Washington with all four years of eligibility. When she last played, in high school, Schiele showed her dominance at the plate, posting on-base percentages over .600 in three of her four years. That fourth year, as a senior, Schiele had a .588 OBP and hit 29 extra-base hits, scoring 45 runs and driving in 34 more.

FRANCESCA TORRACA

Torraca is one of two members of the Puerto Rican National Team playing for Washington, alongside senior pitcher Taran Alvelo. The New Jersey native earned All-Conference honors all four years while at Immaculata. She reached 100 career hits in less than three full years. This summer, Torraca won a Central American championship with Puerto Rico and competed at the Softball World Championship in Japan, taking fifth in the world.
