Saturday's Game Vs. Cal Is The Final Home Game For Five UW Seniors

Blake Burton

Blake Burton (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Mater Dei HS) has been a four-year member of the team, making 14 appearances, including a pair of starts in 2019. This season he collected a pair of RBIs in his first action in February against Northern Colorado. Blake debuted on the field in 2016 and collected a double in his first college at bat, but he wound up redshirting the season after injuring his arm. Blake is always a positive influence and promotes a team-first attitude that has been appreciated by the coaching staff over the last four years. Blake will earn his degree this June in Economics and aspires to have a career in consultancy, construction management and data analytics. He will be joined on the field by his mom, Angel, and father, Michael.

Blake on being a Husky:

"Being a Husky is everything to me. I always have wanted to come to the University of Washington ever since I laid my eyes on it back in my junior year of high school. When I made my decision, I knew it was going to be a tough route. I’ve always had people that are better than me, but you know what, I wasn’t going to let that affect me. I was going to be the hardest worker out of everybody. That’s kind of got me to the point that I am today. I learned valuable, valuable life lessons on both the baseball field and in the classroom. I’ve made all kind of connections in the community and on the baseball team that will be everlasting. I’m getting a world-class education and being here with my 32 other brothers kind of means the world to me."

Mason Cerrillo

Mason Cerrillo (Auburn, Wash./Auburn-Mountain View HS) joined UW in 2018 from Bellevue College and played a vital role in helping the Huskies make their first College World Series appearance. As a junior he was named Pac-12 Honorable Mention after finishing second on the team with a .341 batting average and leading the team with 76 hits and 23 multi-hit games. In 2019, Mason has played in 52 games and leads the team in at bats while playing all three positions in the outfield during the season. Mason carries a 3.66 grade point average and is a four-time Dean’s List member in his 2 years at UW. He was recently honored for his excellence in the classroom by being named to the Academic All-District 8 First Team and is a finalist for the Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, with the winner being announced next week. He is a Public Health and Environmental Health Major and is planning on becoming a firefighter once his playing days are over. Mason will be joined on the field by his parents, Susanne and Rich Cerrillo, sister, Mariah, and girlfriend Keeley Anderson.

Cerrillo on advice to aspiring, young baseball players:

"Keep working hard and don’t limit yourself to just baseball. Take advantage of academic stuff and push yourself in all facets of life. Keep working hard, set goals and try to achieve them."

Adam Davenport

Adam Davenport (Duvall, Wash./Duvall HS) has been a part of the Husky team for four years. He redshirt his first season with the program and then battled several injuries. He has been a valuable part of the team that has helped in the development of the winning culture at UW. Adam will earn his degree in Psychology and plans on embarking in a career as a Peak Performance trainer with sports teams and businesses. Adam will be joined on the field by his parents, Sue and Scott Davenport, girlfriend Chloe Lium, and grandparents, Barbara and Paul Caraco, and Dick and Joan Davenport.

Davenport on what it means to be a Husky:

"Just to be around people that want the same thing and have the same goal, which is to be great in every area and everything they do from school to baseball to relationships. I think it was just really unique to be around people that were similarly minded."

Joe Wainhouse

Joe Wainhouse (Kent, Wash./Kentridge HS) has been a member of the team for three years and has spent time both as a pitcher and a hitter. In 2018, he became a full-time hitter and developed into an All-Pac-12 player and was named MVP of the NCAA Conway Regional. He also belted two more home runs in the Super Regional to help power the Huskies to their first College World Series appearance. Joe has 29 career home runs to rank 8th all-time in UW career history and he’s the first Husky to have 10 homers in back-to-back seasons in a decade. Joe received his degree in political science and will be joined on the field today by his dad, Dave, mom Marcie, sister Ava Grandma Toni, and girlfriend, Grace Paddock.

Joe's advice to youngsters aspiring to play high-level baseball:

"Learn what your niche is and find what you’re good at the start. As you go through you’ll develop and you’ll get better and better. At the start, just work hard and find your way on the field and do what you can to play because that’s the best way to get better."

Jacob Hatloe

Jacob Hatloe (Everett, Wash./King’s HS) has been a student manager with the baseball program for four years. During his first three seasons he oversaw video coordination and would assist with opponent scouting reports, compiling videos for player development and assisting at practices. In 2019 he served as assistant to the director of baseball operations. Jacob, from Everett, Washington, will earn his degree in economics this June and is entering graduate school at the UW in the Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership program. Today Jacob is joined on the field by his parents Jim and Christina Hatloe.
