SEATTLE – On Thursday afternoon, Washington head women’s basketball coach Jody Wynn held a press conference to welcome two incredible individuals to the Husky family. Liv and Kaya Scheurell signed their letters of intent through Team IMPACT to join the Husky women’s basketball program.
“They both represent the grit, the fight, the determination, and the toughness to go through their battles.” Said Wynn. “Your spirit, your joy, your love for life is contagious amongst all of us and we love having you around. This has been a blessing for our women’s basketball program.”
Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit that connects children facing serious and chronic illnesses with local college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes.
“We are really thankful for you and the joy you bring to us,” said senior guard Jenna Moser, speaking on behalf of the team on Liv and Kaya’s incredible energy. “When you walk into the gym, it puts a smile on everyone’s face. Our team got a whole lot better today.”
As Liv and Kaya put the pen to paper to officially join the squad, Liv had a message for all Husky fans saying, “I would like to thank everyone for being in my heart and as we run together, we all become one huge family.”
To finalize their signing, senior Hannah Johnson gave Kaya and Liz their official Husky jerseys as well as purple Husky hats. Kaya and Liz put their dubs up and said “Go Dawgs!”
The entire Washington Husky community is excited to welcome Kaya and Liz to the family!
